This is not an all-inclusive list, but rather a great launching pad to help you find animation kits and aniBlock collections quickly.
I have been collecting animated pose and aniBlock packs since my very first order at Daz 3D. By now I have nearly all of the many, Many offerings available at Daz 3D.
Let's have a look:
Makers of aniMate 2, GoFigure has a massive assortment of really cool aniBlock packs that we can add to our libraries - and so I did!
From my very first Daz 3D online order, I began collecting these incredible collections - and now, aside from very few of the newly 'retargeted for Genesis 8' repeat products, I have them all - and, even though I've already transferred them to Genesis 8 using Bone Minion, I'll still continue to complete the collection - just for the sake of supporting a favorite artist!
Many of this extensive library of professionally captured and targeted motions have not been retargeted to Genesis 8. I must say, with Bone Minion, these packs are a worthy addition to any motion library!
Fairly early in the industry of motion capture, we'll see a few 'jitters' in some of the motions contained in these packs. If you've read anything negative about this fact, please don't let that stick in your mind as a bad thing. When we look at what's being offered in these packs, it's clear that most of these are only availablethrough GoFigure - unless we get our own actors and motion capture gear, and retargeting technicians, and... well... I hope you get the point.
Even in movie production, Motion Capture is The Beginning of the process. It is up to us, the animators, to complete the task of bringing our characters to life using the data.
The GoFigure Team capturing the motions for their Martial Arts series:
Another early-bird on the market, Reisormocap has always been a fine provider for incredibly smooth, natural movements with a variety of motions for so many situations, these collections are Outstanding!!!
Probably one of my most used libraries to date - though I really love using all of my motion capture selections!
There are video examples of these products on each store page. I'm sure you'll agree that these actions totally ROCK!
High Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Spies, Zombies, Office... even kids at play!!!
This is another fine example of the Magic of Bone Minion! You see, many of the older V4/M4 Reisormocap collections have different movements than those for Genesis and newer. They're all amazing, so I love that I was able to capture all of these for Genesis 8 so that I can use them on Rosie! :) Thanks Reisormocap and Riversoft Art!!!
Another addition to the Daz 3D store that adds plenty of new, unique motions that aid us in our storytelling, Mocap Online might seem pricey, but the collections of motions within are entirely worth every penny!
Not only does each pack contain a whole lot of animations, there are different variations of them and often include the start of a sequence, end of a sequence, and a lengthy loop that can go in the middle - depending upon which pack.
Something that I really think is top-notch, is how they offer us a full SketchFab Preview of the entire collection on each store page. They run really smooth on my machine and it gives a complete, true-to-life example of exactly what we're paying for. Love it!!!
I like using these sequences and, either cutting them shorter to my precise need in aniMate 2, or running the whole thing, saving it, and only simulating/rendering that portion that I need for the specific shot I'm after.
Specializing in high-end walk animations of various types with multiple optitions, Havanalibere also offers Dancing, Emoting, Zombies, Adventuring... it's cool to see that he's pushing ever forward into cool new directions - because I absolutely Love his work and how it's delivered!
I have the majority of his animation packs, and will eventually own them all.
Havanalibere's Female Walks and Dances often come with optional breast and motions as well as various arm/hand options, blinks and emotions, etc., which is a very nice touch.
I always tell him: Keep making them, I'll keep buying them!
A bit of a different take on supplying us with animations for our Daz 3D figures, Bonetech3D's motions remind me, very much, of the types of actions that we store on Game Avatars to be called by the game engine under certain conditions.
This makes for a fun and interesting workflow that is quite different from many of these other offerings.
They're a little funky in how some of them aren't really named with anything meaningful... so we need to preview the aniBlocks to tell what we're looking at, but that's fine.
We can always rename stuff if we want and, since many/most of these are for Genesis/Genesis 2, we can rename them as we transfer them using our Bone Minion!!!
I love the imaginative actions that we find in these. I have all except for the latest "7Ceres" series, which I will get sometime - for sure!
These folks ROCK! Embarrassingly, I have a fairly sparse collection of ThreeDigital Motions. That will change!
Smaller number of motions in each pack in exchange for a smaller price tag. Deal!
There are literally TONS of ideas that can be realized with these things.
If I had a gripe it would be that all of the example videos have disappeared a long time ago, and they don't really seem to exist anywhere.
With some of the titles of the packs, example shots would certainly be useful. I mean... they have promo images, but they don't really say much about the actual motion. Oh well.
It's always nice to have More Animations!!!
With his "Alive" and "Expression" aniBlock Collections, SimonWM has been a friend to us animators all along.
Fun and imaginative, SimonWM also has a great handle on the human musculature - some of these muscle kits are often required for things like his Alive series.
I bought his Genesis 8 Wet Body Iray, and it even comes with animated water droplets for various parts of the body! :)
He also has some tutorials (Pose-A-Motion) on basic animation principles, based on specific type of motion - walking, running, and he teamed up with MysticShard and they produced for us MysticShard Sub-Dragon aniBlocks! Delicious!!!
After watching the video above, Slater and I were chatting, sharing and shopping Daz 3D together when I noticed that TerraDome 3 Iray was on sale for a really low price.
Frankly, I'm a bit bewildered why it took so long for me to get this in the first place. Colm Jackson and Traveler put a Ton of work into this thing and really came up with something special. I think it was a timing thing - between still being Carrara-Only and then when I hit the books on Daz Studio, my mind was all over the place - especially learning various ways to control the dForce settings and tweaking out Rosie's hair - and creating Rosie as well. There was a Lot going on.
Animation Four-Wheeler Template comes with two Bonus "TerraDome 3 Tour" motion setups, each also with a special aniBlock for the camera. Just load up Zone A of TerraDome 3, crank the Desert Mesas morph to 1.0, load in our prepped Animation Four Wheeler, Load the aniBlocks, and GO!!!
As of this writing, this incredible product is 12 years old, yet it's a real Gem!
Check out the images below for how cool this thing is.
Working with the materials to bring them to become Iray shaders was a simple and fun process and the figure itself holds up with everything today - with a wonderfully imaginative twist!
Having aniBlocks included with it is Really Amazing! Walk Start/Stop/Cycle along with some that open and close the rear end - and they all look Fantastic! See the aniBlock preview video below!
And as if that's not enough - Elele also has a Free Gatling Gun addon for it at ShareCG.com:
Mixamo is an online service where we can upload our own FBX character (or use one of theirs) onto which we can sample, adjust, and download motion-captured animations for free (requires a free Abobe Account login)
I will be completing this article along with a special added bonus video on Mixamo very soon - so Stay Tuned!
